Poland Says Farewell to Olympics Heroine Irena Szewinska

Olympic champion and IOC member Irena Szewinska is hailed by leaders of Poland, the IOC and the IAAF for her life in sport. Szewinska died June 30 in Warsaw after treatment for cancer. She turned 72 in May.

The Polish Olympic Committee is deeply moved and grieved by the passing away of Mrs Irena Szewińska after a serious and long-lasting illness. The Polish Olympic Family went into desperate mourning.

Karolina Bosiek with an important prize

On the first day of the 39th Seminar of the Association of European Olympic Committees and the IOC in Belgrade, the Polish speed skater Karolina Bosiek won the third prize in the competition "The Award of Piotr Nurowski for Young Winter Sport Players".

48th EOC General Assembly in Warsaw

On May 10, the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) unanimously granted Warsaw the organization of the 48th EOC General Assembly in 2019. It will be held in the year of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Polish Olympic Committee.
